Serenade

Late 90s, in a rural valley of Galicia. María wants to fulfill her mother’s last wish before she dies: to see her granddaughter Lola make her First Communion. But María is an atheist and a single mother, and 12-year-old Lola hasn’t set foot in a church since her baptism. In this unique journey, and with time running out, this family of bakers will learn to say goodbye without worrying about what people will think, loving each other in a different way, and letting go of an outdated notion of family honor.
